Until relatively recently, I'd always avoided chickpeas, thinking they were essentially just a less tasty version of a bean... how wrong I was!

I've recently incorporated chickpeas into some of my dishes and I have to say, they're absolutely lovely.
One of my favourite dishes is a simple curry:

- Tin of chopped tomatoes
- 400g fresh chickpeas
- Chopped garlic & chopped onion
- Curry, paprika and a small amount of chilli powder
- If you want to, you can add some pre-cooked meat - pork kabanos sausage works well, as does pre-cooked chicken strips

Prepare a small serving of cous-cous to go alongside it and it's a perfect meal that's easily prepared in 10-15 minutes!

Feel free to try the above recipe and post back what you think, or share your own recipes that involve chickpeas if you've tried them before. :)

We always have chickpeas in our pantry and we cook them often. We have a special masala that we use while cooking them. They are soaked overnight and pressure cooked, masala added, and garnished with jaggery and coconut and tempered with mustard seeds and garlic

Chickpeas are my favorite. This is one thing that I like to have every Sunday. They taste yummy and are known as Chole or Channe in here. They taste awesome with Indian flat bread or with Basmati Rice but I prefer these with Deep fried Indian bread known as Bhatura here.
