Something I have never had an issue with is when members wish to advertise their sites or even their projects on forums. I feel that as long as it is done without causing too much distraction on the forum, links to projects or sites is something I am happy with, after all, everyone is heading for the same goal and I am happy to support that.

What are your thoughts on memberss who advertise their sites in their signature on forums? Do you allow it?

Since I am an Affiliate for Amazon and do websites to promote them, I lean toward allowing it in your signature. I also earn commissions from several advertising websites that I promote in forums by running inexpensive ads in my signatures.

It could be obnoxious if it seems like the whole reason they are on your forum is to promote their biz. You know what I mean? However, that doesn't seem to be the case much these days. Well, forums have lost out to social media so much and it seems like people have given up on forum links for SEO, but I could be wrong.

Anway, I think it depends on the people. For instance, way back in the 2000s or 2010s, I forgot which time, I had this music lesson affiliate link with a big company, so I put on this popular music lesson forum. The response was horrible because they just didn't like me that much and the attempt at selling something to them made it even worse. Well, from my POV, I was simply told from the affiliate site to go to where the musicians were and so that's what I did, but I didn't know what bullies they were.

OK, what made them mad at me? I posted homemade lessons which were good, but you can't do that on these popular musician forums without encountering hostility because they believe regular people don't have the right to make them. They always want to start something with those people.
