I hear critiicism when it comes to reality shows when it is said that who the winner will be is already determined. I do not believe in that and just enjoy the effort put in my the participants.

They get an opportunity to showcase their talent and even if they do not win at the show there will be many who would be interested in engaging them for a paid acitivity.

I enjoy dance and singing shows

Me too, I dislike these shows an there is nothing real about these shows. I can imagine the drama to keep viewers interested but its too much for my liking

You mean someone sings there or dances that is not real you think? Are they using AI and performing? I find it real and may be there is partiality shown while choosing but what I am interested in watching them perform

I enjoyed one this year called Deal or no Deal Island. It was one where they had a mix of Deal or no Deal with a sort of survivor type feel to it.

I remember watching one of those years ago but now forget its modus operandi. I quite liked it and looked forwrd to it. Then it was an Indian show.

They have Celebrity Treasure Island here in New Zealand but they're barely celebrities.

There is no reality in reality shows, everything is fixed, and also they run propaganda to bring debate.

I am not bothered about whether it is fixed or not They provide some entertainment and the participants get an opportunity to showcase their talent and some come from poor homes.

I don't have a television but I wouldn't watch reality shows if I did as they cater to the lowest common denominator.

The "lowest common denominator" as you call them have hidden talent. If you look at history most who are celebrities today came from the "lowest common denominator" Here is a list as reported by the Internet

" Marilyn Monroe, Babe Ruth, Malcolm X, Johnny Cash, Billie Holiday, Margaret Sanger, Charlie Chaplin, Richard Pryor, Steve McQueen, Stephen King, Dolly Parton, Oprah Winfrey, Jack London, and others."

No lol, I mean the unnecessary drama where they try to make a fake love story between two contestants and involve parents too. Parents are added for extra drama in kids reality shows

You know and I know that much of it is there to bring some hype to the show and that is how shows get attention. It is left to you to go with the flow. I have no issues

I enjoy some reality shows, like Big Brother, and here in the UK we have I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. I don't think they're fixed in terms of the winner is pre-determined, but sometimes there is a clear favourite at the beginning of these series (like with Danny Jones in this years' I'm a Celeb) and they go on to win it as he did.

Ultimately they're all about entertainment and I find them entertaining which is why I watch them. :)

I wasn't referring to their background but to the fact the sort of people who watch such stuff are those who don't have the inclination for more intellectual pursuits.

:ROFLMAO: Give me a break. I watch them and surely would not like to be dubbed as "those who don't have the inclination for more intellectual pursuits."

I have the same opinion with you. The main advantage of this approach is that the participants find the process more entertaining. That I think is enough. It's definitely going to put to test their their energy and skills. These shows help contestants find an opportunity to perform and be known by many people.

There is no doubt a bit of hype as just letting the participants perform would be a bit boring. It is the comments from judges also make the show lively.

Performance is of course real, and rest of the things like who will win, who will be the judges favorite or audience favorites are predetermined.
