What's your experience with emulators?

Emulators are simply gaming softwares that gives us the opportunity to play certain games on our devices. Do you make use of an emulator in playing games? What is the experience like?

I have heard of and seen emulators used in the past but I don't tend to use them too often myself. I do love the idea behind them though as it allows you to be able to go back to older games that you either may not be able to get hold of anymore or that may have been damaged due to storing.
