When it comes to advertising your forum where do you go, do you use social media to advertise your forum or do you like to use google ads? What do you think about advertising on promotional forums, do you think advertising on other forums will help?

Don't bother with paying for Facebook Ads.

I don't think I had any sign ups resulting from a campaign I ran.

At the moment I am only using Webmaster, Admin forums to advertise.
I may look into Google Ads and other things at a later date.

I'll promote it on forums where it's allowed. But I try to be an active member and not take advantage of the forum because doing so is pretty dirty.

I buy ads. Unlike some above, I actually have a lot of great success with them. I fine-tune them to match that of my target audience and I only get them on platforms where I know my audience is.

I do SEO, as well. I'm really good at SEO and enjoy researching keywords.

:)

I do strategy post exchanging, doing with those who I know like the niche my forum is using because a lot of times, they become active members afterwards. :)

I think this is a great strategy. If you engage in post activities, you might end up getting active members, but this works only when you are willing to reciprocate. You can also exchange banners with the person you are involved with post exchange.

I hope to build my theology Facebook page and that should get traffic to my theology forum. However, it won't be cheap.

I promote my forum everywhere. Especially on social media, on other games, forums, question/answer sites and directories.
